Contracts

AC+S offers vast experience handling construction industry contracts in the public and private sectors. Our lawyers are well versed in all aspects of public works contracting, including federal government procurement and the Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FARs). We appear before Boards of Contract Appeals and the Court of Federal Claims, as well as circuit courts, representing the interests of contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers. At the state and local level, we have extensive experience in public procurement contracts by agencies such as the Department of Transportation, counties and boroughs, municipalities, school districts, water districts, hospital districts, and port districts.

We are also experts in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) forms (members of this firm are regular speakers at well-received annual seminars on the most recent AIA form updates), subcontracts, purchase orders, and other forms of contracting found in private construction throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Our lawyers have unique experience in negotiating alternative contracting arrangements such as Integrated Project Delivery, lean delivery, and joint ventures.

Disputes

AC+S handles all aspects of construction disputes from negotiation, arbitration, mediation, litigation, and appeal. Many of our lawyers are on the National Roster of Arbitrators and Mediators of the American Arbitration Association, and are skilled in seeking the most cost-effective and expeditious means by which to resolve a dispute. Examples of disputes we have dealt with include: change order claims, scope of work disputes, corporate dissolutions, differing site conditions, and bid protests.
